MD Micro-needling

What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy with the use of microneedles to create controlled microscopic needle incisions in the stratum corneum.

How does it work?
The idea is based on the skin's ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage. In this case thousands of micro wounds are created in the skin by highly precise, sterile needles. Immediately after the injury occurs the skin disperses old damaged connective tissue and replaces it with the new, which triggers new collagen synthesis yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin and fainter scars/stretchmarks.

Who will benefit?
Clients concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, scarring including acne scarring and mild vascular rosacea. A study looking at the effect of micro-needling on facial scarring demonstrated a 1-2 grade reduction in scar severity in 89% of trial subjects. Clients who undergo a course of treatment report a 60%-80% improvement in their skin.

Micro-needling is also recommended to stimulate the hair follicles, causing them to regenerate.

What happens during the treatment?
Prior to any treatment pre care advice with a full consultation with Lorraine will take place to determine your suitability, needs and expectations.

After your skin is prepared, the pen will be gently used over your area of concern to puncture the epidermis layers of the skin and create mintue sub-cutaneous injuries. These microscopic wounds close within 3-5 minutes, but that's enough to stimulate new collagen deposition which may last for up to a year. You may experience some slight discomfort, particularly around the sensitive areas of your face such as around the eyes.

What is included in the treatment?
After your consultation. a thorough cleansing regime then takes place to remove all impurities preparing your skin for the full Million-Dollar experience a dermaplane exfoliation followed by a ice globe massage to aid with lymphatic drainage. Your chosen Mesotherapy ampoule will be applied to your skin while Lorraine gently glides the needling pen over your skin targeting all your concerns. A hydrating pro mask is then applied additional enhancements are offered such as hand rejuvenation and LED lights therapy. The phototherapy helps to soothe, hydrate and repairs your skin.

How many treatments should I have?
Each client is different and so are their needs so each microneedling course is different. Treatments should be once every 6 weeks for 4-6 months. Lorraine will work with your time and budget to achieve the best results for you. You can expect to continue seeing results for up to 6-8 months after the last treatment as your skins' matrix regrows new collagen.

What are the side effects?
After the treatment your skin will show signs of redness and will appear similar to mild sunburn and there may be some slight swelling. This will begin to subside between 24-48 hours after treatment. During the first 3 days you will experience some tightness, dryness and mild sensitivity to touch in some areas.

What aftercare will I need to follow?
You will take home a rescue skincare routine to help soothe and protect the skin and enhance the results. After your treatment you will leave with Shield 50+ (SPF) and I highly advise you purchase this to be used every day. This treatment will conutine to show results to your skin days after, and if you are planning a special event I would always book at least a week before.
